The scenarios for the future of the protected Forest Reserve at Pugu after the loss of the once renowed global plant diversity hotspot can be several.

The Forest Area may look for some time to come like what the major part of the old forest looks like at present, bushland devoid of anything big enough for becoming charcoal.

Considering the rising prices for land around Dar es Salaam, those who can not effort and have some guts could start encroaching the forest reserve area and first start a small farm and gradually replace temporary structures with more permanent once, until the Pugu Hills have been covered by unplanned settlements.

BUT THERE IS HOPE  that the destruction may stop at some stage, have a look at the following documentary of Hope.
